Hexamagic square, 4096th-order


Pan Fengchu (Meishan, Sichuan, China 1963 - )

The Chinese Pan Fengchu constructed a hexamagic square of order 4096, which we checked in December 2003. It was the most multimagical square known at that time. This square uses numbers from 0 to 16,777,215. The multimagic sums are:

Pan Fengchu studied combinatorial mathematics and geology. He is a geology professor. He worked 20 years in Tibet, where he investigated and evaluated a large-scale copper mine. He is now in Beijing, and works in the Institute of Mineral Resources, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences.

Fengchu, in Chinese, means "young phoenix".
